The "Gothenburg Gods" Descend on St Andrews

English at St Andrews (EASA), a family enterprise based at St Andrews offering 5 star English training experiences, recently welcomed a group of 10 Swedish executives to experience the best of Scotland based at the Old Course Golf Resort and Spa.

The “Gothenburg Gods” as they have been nicknamed in their home town, are all members of the prestigious St Joergen’s Park Resort and participate in regular sessions in the gym to keep them all in top physical condition.
Over  4 action-packed  days they were able to combine:

  • A Golf Mini-tournament  organised by EASA over  3 famous courses (The New Course, Crail Balcomie and The Duke’s Course)
  • English Language tuition and discussion throughout their stay to help improve their level of spoken fluency and comprehension skills
  • Fitness and relaxation at the famous Kohler Spa in the hotel
  • A guided tour around the historic town  of St Andrews
  • A “History of Golf” presentation by the St Andrews Links Trust
  • A professionally guided Single Malt Whisky tasting  tour of the East Neuk
  • A final night Trophy Presentation  Dinner in the Old Course Hotel Boardroom overlooking the famous “Road Hole”

In a thank you note to EASA,  Pär Källeskog who helped coordinate the group along with Denis McQuade of EASA  wrote:

'Dear Denis!

On behalf of all the mortals and inmortals participating I want to thank you for our fantastic Gods of Gothenburg Scottish Tour, it was truly a trip for gods. I'm sure it will be a very pleasant memory for all of us for many years.

Your program, organisation, service was excellent down to every detail and you really delivered far beyond our high expectations. We might not have played the best golf but we certainly did appreciate the challenging courses and I believe all of us look forward to come back and play especially the classical links.

A special thanks to both your charming wife Linda and daughter Lauren for the enlightenment they provided about St Andrews, Scottish language and culture, and not least for joining us at the last dinner.

It will be difficult to reach this divine level of experience again ... '

‘English at St Andrews’ offers unique and personalised 5 star English training experiences.  Complementing the English training are optional opportunities to experience the very best of Scotland’s golf, culture and single malt whisky appreciation.  The company won a Tourism Innovation Award in 2011 from Scottish Enterprise, when the business was recognised for being innovative and bringing new tourism business to Scotland.

As with the Gothenburg party the EASA team designs individually tailored programmes to suit clients’ particular needs and interests.  They put together, in client-preferred proportions, English language tuition, golf, cultural activities and single malt whisky appreciation. EASA works with corporate executives, luxury travellers and international graduates.
Their signature 2-week experience is particularly recommended to individuals and small groups who wish to make a significant improvement in their business and conversational English, ensuring that they return home far more comfortable in presenting themselves and/or their company when placed in an English–speaking environment.

Overall, the primary objective of the EASA programmes is to enhance clients’ English communication skills while also providing them with a first-class and memorable experience of Scotland.
